Kacie Chatwood began dance lessons at Jana Shiner Dance in Billings, MT, where she quickly fell in love with tap, and dreamt of becoming a Rockette. She then went to CDS Performing Arts Center, training in Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Modern, Ballet, and Musical Theater. While in college at the University of Mary, Kacie became Captain of the Cheer and Dance Team, and earned her Bachelors in Respiratory Therapy. After college, she moved to Seattle, where she could often be seen dancing with her patients and their families. Unfortunately, she never grew tall enough to be a Rockette, but this did not stop her love for the stage.
Kacie returned to Montana to pursue her master's degree, allowing her to return to her home studio, CDS, and now at SCB, as a demonstrator, teacher, choreographer, and student. She continues her dance education through conventions and workshops, including 24/Seven, MDAA, and Flow 40. Her blend of artistic and scientific skills, including her knowledge of physiology, have shaped her distinctive style of teaching, focusing on technique.
Kacie’s heart remains in her community. Aside from school and dance, she spends her time teaching adaptive skiing, volunteering, and playing piano. She looks forward to sharing her excitement for tap and the arts with her students. At the end of every class, she inspires all of her students by asking, "What are YOU proud of YOURSELF for today?"
