point shoes

The School of Classical Ballet has a Pointe Shoe Seminar for all of their dancers who are “en pointe”.

We will be covering pointe shoe terminology, foot care, shoe care, alignment, and of course safety. Teachers will be taking  a close look at the shoes to see that they can be safely used and to make suggestions for improvement.

This seminar will have useful information for all pointe shoe wearers from beginners to our most advanced dancers. We are excited to see all our ballerinas there.

The Nutcracker by The School Of Classical Ballet

Original choreography, performed by the talented School of Classical Ballet dancers will bring the beauty and magic of the holidays to you this year in a special Nutcracker Ballet never to forget. This is a holiday classic the whole family will enjoy!

From the comfort of home, you will enjoy a lively Christmas party at Clara's home. Clara's Godfather Drosselmeyer, a mysterious toymaker, arrives to the party with wonderful life-sized mechanical dolls. Drosselmeyer gifts Clara a beautiful Nutcracker, but this Nutcracker is not like any other.

The evening following the party, Clara enters a magical world of mice and soldier battles. The gallant Nutcracker, now life-sized will save the day. Following a fierce battle with the Mouse Queen, the Nutcracker turns into a handsome prince, anxious to show Clara the magical Land of Sweets.

Dancing snowflakes beautifully swirl and blow as Clara and the Nutcracker travel to the Land of Sweets. There they are grandly welcomed by the Sugar Plum Fairy and enjoy the festivities in that magical place.

Choreography for this production is a unique combination by Leigh Schanfein, Tiffany Wardell, and Julia Marble Blass. There is limited re-staging of San Diego Ballet choreography by Betty Loos...
