Information about the
Billings Symphony and San Diego Ballet Nutcracker 2025
The San Diego Ballet has been coming to Billings to perform with the Billings Symphony and give local students to opportunity to perform select roles in the production for well over 20 years. Be a part of this magical production on the lovely stage of Alberta Bair Theater.

Performances are at the Alberta Bair Theater over Thanksgiving weekend.

There are also mandatory rehearsals and costume fittings at ABT on Wednesday, Nov 26th, and Friday, Nov 29th.
Tickets are already for sale at the ABT box office and website.
On-going rehearsals are mostly on Saturdays with SCB at Montana Dance Center, beginning Sept. 20. There are only 8 or 9 weekend rehearsals for everyone, so being at rehearsals is VERY important. Some parts require less time, and the schedule will be posted and emailed out. SCB tries to keep rehearsals for each role consistent each Saturday until scenes need to come together and times may change.
This production is open to all student dancers who are interested, not just current SCB students. Boys and girls should be no shorter than 5'2" and must attend the auditions.
Auditions are on Friday Sept. 12th for:
Girls and Boys over 5’2": 6:00 - 6:45 pm
This is for roles including Garland Girls, Ladies in Waiting, Jr & Sr. Rats, Snow, Flowers, Variations (Mirlitons & Chinese)
Advanced girls must bring pointe shoes
Girls and Boys 4’8” - 5’2”: 6:45 - 8:00 pm
This is for roles including Garlands, Ladies in Waiting, Jr. Rats, Sr. Soldiers, Russian Bears, Clara, Prince, Party Girls & Boys
Auditions are on Saturday Sept. 13th for:
Girls and Boys under 4’2” and ages 6+: 10:00 - 10:30 am
This is for roles including Baby Dolls, Sugar babes, Sheep, Candy canes
Girls and Boys 4’2” - 4’8” ages 7+: 10:30 - 11:30 am
This is for roles including Party Girls, Party Boys, Gingersnaps, Cavalry, Candy canes, Sheep, Jr. Soldiers, Baby Rats
Boys and Girls chosen for the parts of Soldiers, Party, Clara, and Garlands will have afternoon rehearsal 9/13! Plan accordingly please.
*We highly recommend that you register online in advance via JackRabbit to save time at check-in* Please arrive at least 15-20 minutes early, as various forms need to be filled out, audition numbers distributed, and dancers must be organized into groups.
Come prepared to take any part you are given. San Diego Ballet chooses your part and expects that you will be dancing the part given to you!
There is a $15 audition fee. There is no additional performance fee.
We accept cash, credit cards, and checks made out to SCB. If you are an existing SCB Student, it can be added to your SCB JackRabbit acount. Please note that changing through JackRabbit uses a credit card and there is a 3-5% processing fee added.
Any other fun info?
There will be a master class with a San Diego Ballet instructor for intermediate & advanced ballet dancers on Friday, September 12, 4:15 - 5:45 pm! We highly recommend all qualified students take advantage of the opportunity to take this class.
The class is free for anyone auditioning, and is $15 for all others.
