This class introduces ballet terminology and follows a traditional ballet class format, but without barre work. It includes warm-up, basic ballet steps, center movement, simple choreography, and free dance time. This class should be taken before or with Beginning Ballet I.

Tap dancing turns beats of the music into a fun way of feeling rhythm. Students learn tap terminology and to apply rhythm and timing to tap combinations. Tap dance develops a keen sense of rhythm as well as coordination.

This class introduces movements that will help dancers expand their bodies and minds which is essential for the growth of a ballet dancer as an artist and athlete. Elements of Graham: The Graham technique of modern dance was developed in the early 20th century by Martha Graham. It is considered to be the among the first codified modern dance techniques, and most later forms borrow freely from Graham. The "Elements of Graham" technique class includes floor work, standing exercises, movement across the floor, and falls.

Age 14 & up This class is waiting for you! There is no other dance/sport out there like ballet. It is all inclusive, you have to strong, flexible, graceful, rhythmic, and tell a story with your body all at the same time. The ultimate workout. Bring a friend

Age 8-12 This class follows a traditional ballet class format, starting at the barre focusing on posture and alignment, continuing with stretching and strengthening exercises. Center movement and traveling steps are added as the class progresses. No former training is required.

Please note that commonly, after age 8, underwear is not worn under tights, leotards, and costumes.

Jazz dance combines techniques of classical ballet and modern dance with the current forms of popular dance. Jazz also has its own movement vocabulary ranging from the isolation of certain body parts to the movement of the entire body with the accents of musical rhythms.

ABOUT
Moving beyond the Intermediate Level. Center work will consist of an adagio, a tendu combination, jumps – including petit allegro and batterie, and pirouette preparations and turns. Dancers will begin to work on attitude positions, as well as, develop their grande rond de jambe and rond de jambe en l’air. Corner work will consist of jump, waltz, and various traveling combinations, including grande allegro, kept in time to the music. These combinations may exceed 2 eight counts of movement. Dancers will learn basic kinesiology and stage placement. They will be given literature on anatomy for dancers. dancers must have at least four years experience, take at least one other ballet class a week, and have the instructor’s permission to register for the class. Class is recommended for dancers ages 11 and up. Returning students should always refer to their spring evaluation to determine the appropriate fall class to take.

Students will utilize previously learned ballet technique while working in pointe shoes. Each class includes barre exercises, center floor work and across the floor combinations. These exercises focus on strengthening the feet and ankles.
