Paige Hunter

Julia_Headshot2_edited.jpg

Paige holds a BFA in Dance Performance and Choreography, and a BA in French from Western Washington University. She spent some time in Senegal, drawn to traditional African dancing, then moved to New York City to immerse herself in art, and refine her sense of modern dance technique, performance, and pedagogy. For several years she focused on the Cunningham Technique, a style she loved for its clarity of form and rhythm. After she got married, she and her husband moved to Santa Fe, NM, where she continued to dance. She's grateful to be back in Billings, living near family, and teaching dance to all ages at SCB. When not teaching, she's raising three kids.

ABOUT

While classical ballet is the base for all forms of dancing, we are increasingly challenged to move in modern or contemporary ways. This class introduces movements that will help dancers expand their bodies and minds which is essential for the growth of a ballet dancer as an artist and athlete. Elements of Graham: The Graham technique of modern dance was developed in the early 20th century by Martha Graham. It is considered to be the among the first codified modern dance techniques, and most later forms borrow freely from Graham. The "Elements of Graham" technique class includes floor work, standing exercises, movement across the floor, and falls.
